Biography
Prashant is working in Hydrological Sciences, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center on SMAP satellite soil moisture retrieval algorithm development, instrumentation and simulation for various applications, and affiliated with IESD, Banaras Hindu University as a faculty. He received his PhD degree from Department of Civil Engineering, University of Bristol, UK. The doctoral dissertation primarily focuses on the use of optical and microwave satellite (SMOS) synergy with Weather Research and Forecasting for hydrological applications. He is also a working group partner with NASA JPL on SMAP soil moisture calibration and validation over the globe. Prashant was the recipient of several awards such as NASA Fellowships; USA; University of Maryland Fellowship, USA; Commonwealth Fellowship, U.K.; and CSIR-UGC- JRF-NET (2005), CSIR-JRF-NET (2006), University Grant Commission (UGC)-NET (2006). Prashant made 100+ publications in peer-reviewed journals and published 04 books with reputed publishing house such as Springer, Taylor and Francis and Elsevier and several book chapters with citation index of 21.
