Biography
Michel RICARD has a doctorate in Sciences and is an University professor in ecology and biology. Actually Head of the UNESCO chair "Education, training and research on sustainable development", he is also the president of the French digital university for environment and sustainable development (UVED) and a member of the UNECE steering committee on education for sustainable development (ESD). Previously, after 15 years at the French Museum of Natural History in Paris where he supervised several scientific programs on marine biology and ecology, he was the president of two French universities, then the director of a higher Institute on natural resources. From 2002, Michel RICARD's activities focused on sustainable development as the chair of two bodies attached to the French Prime minister, the French council on sustainable development and the French committee of the UN Decade for ESD. Michel RICARD published about a hundred of scientific papers and several books on ecology and biology and organized several national and international scientific events. He is holder of several French awards.
